Trump Blasts NJ Icons Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen Amid Garden State Woes

President Donald Trump took aim at two of New Jersey’s most iconic figures — pop superstar Taylor Swift and rock legend Bruce Springsteen — just as the state grappled with a major train strike that left 350,000 commuters stranded and scrambling for options.

Flying back to Washington after a multi-nation Middle East trip, Trump posted on Truth Social, “Ever notice how ever since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s stopped being ‘HOT’?”

Not long after, he turned his attention to Springsteen, calling him “Highly Overrated” and “dumb as a rock” for criticizing Trump while overseas.

“I never liked him, his music, or his Far Left politics,” Trump wrote. “He’s not talented — just a loudmouth JERK who backed Crooked Joe Biden, the mentally incompetent FOOL who nearly ruined our country.”

Trump went on to insult Springsteen’s appearance, calling him a “dried out ‘prune’” and suggesting he should “KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he’s back on U.S. soil — that’s just basic protocol.”

Springsteen, a New Jersey native from Long Branch and Freehold, had launched the European leg of his “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour in Manchester this week. During the show, he denounced the Trump administration as “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous.”

Speaking to his fans, Springsteen said, “We’re here tonight to call on the righteous power of music in these dangerous times for the country I love — the America I’ve always written about.” He urged the audience to “stand up against authoritarianism and let freedom ring.”

Swift, whose early performances were at a café near her family’s vacation spot in Stone Harbor, drew Trump’s ire last year after endorsing Kamala Harris for the 2024 election — backing Joe Biden once again after supporting him in 2020.

In her endorsement, Swift described Harris as “a calm, steady-handed, gifted leader,” contrasting her with the chaos she believes Trump represents.

The 35-year-old singer has mostly stayed out of the public eye in 2025, apart from showing support for her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce.

Both Swift and Trump attended the Feb. 9 Super Bowl in New Orleans. After Kelce’s Chiefs lost 40–22 to the Philadelphia Eagles, Trump mocked Swift on Truth Social, claiming she was “BOOED out of the Stadium” when shown on the big screen.

“MAGA doesn’t forget,” Trump added.
